Margaret R. Groht - Office Manager

Margie is the friendly voice on the phone who answers your calls. She handles most of our daily office functions, including scheduling, invoicing and record keeping, as well as addressing client questions or concerns. She is enthusiastic and compassionate, and understands the stress and worries our clients face as they seek diagnosis and treatment for their horse's medical problems.

Margie was born and raised in Frederick County, Maryland with three sisters. Through her love for animals, she became an active member in her local 4-H, competing nationally in their youth events. She gained equine experience by working on a local horse farm, and competed on both the local and state levels.

Margie graduated from the University of Connecticut with both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Animal Science. While at U-Conn, Margie continued working with horses and expanded her experiences to include cattle and pigs.

She also successfully competed on the University's horse-judging team, receiving several awards at national competitions. She is now a horse show judge during the summer months. Margie with her two horses,

Any ''free'' time Margie has left is spent volunteering for the CT 4-H Horse program, giving back to the organization that made such a big difference in her own life.

She now lives in Morris with her husband, Jeff, and her assortment of animals: horse- Missy, pony- Skippy, 3 cats and 5 ducks.

Nicole Haversat - Vet Assistant

Nicole is our Veterinary Assistant, and is an important member of our veterinary medical team. She plays a very “hands-on” role by assisting in all diagnostic, medical and surgical procedures. Developing x-rays, performing veterinary assistantlaboratory work, stocking the vet truck, holding and restraining mares and foals, assisting stallion collections are all just a part of a day’s work in the clinic or on the road. Her dedication and caring is evident with every patient.

Nicole is a native of Connecticut, born in Watertown. She is the middle child, with one brother and one sister. She earned her Bachelors Degree in Animal Science from the University of Connecticut where her interest in horses began. She started taking riding lessons and became a member of U-Conn’s Equestrian Team. Shortly after graduation, Nicole purchased her first horse, Mattie, and together they spent six years showing locally, and on the “A” circuit. She recently acquired a new horse, Beau, and they are about to begin their show career this spring.

Before coming to Candlewood Equine, Nicole spent eight years working as a barn manager for two local show barns. She now lives in Oxford with her husband, Dave, and their two cats, Merlin and Shiloh.
